4th Ave Residents say “More trees, less trash, safer sidewalks and streets”

FOFA Survey Report Now Available - See our Resources Page

On Wed May 15, Forth on Fourth Ave (FOFA) revealed the results of its recent community survey, “What do YOU think about 4th Ave?” to a packed crowd at the Old Stone House. Over 600 respondents (75% who lived on or nearby 4th Ave) named their top priorities including:  more greening, increased pedestrian/bike safety, more active/welcoming street life, and improved sanitation. Support for improved flood mitigation and support of local businesses were also top concerns. Full results are available at www.4fofa.org/resources.

Attendees included Councilmembers Shahana Hanif,  Alexa Aviles, and CB 6 Manager Mike Racioppo as well as representatives from from the offices of Boro Pres Reynoso, State Senator Gounardes and Assemblymember Simon. Invited City Agencies (NYC Parks Dept, Dept of Environmental Protection, Dept of Design and Construction, Dept of Sanitation, NYC Dept of Transportation and the MTA) gave updates on projects aligned with 4th Ave. Andrea Parker of Gowanus Canal Conservancy described the Gowanus BID formation and the possible impact on 4th Ave. A lively Q &A followed.

Our next planning meeting is Monday June 17th at 6pm on Zoom. All are welcome!
