Notes from Nov 10, 2022 Planning Meeting

Thanks to everyone who could make it to the FOFA planning meeting last night. It was a productive conversation and we appreciate everyone's input and time!

We had about 10 people on the call and there was significant interest in FOFA continuing to work on 3 main topics:

1) Continued advocacy for pedestrian safety/making sure NYC DOT and electeds keep promises and continue to invest in 4th Ave improvements

2) Work with developers and local businesses to plant trees (especially if legally required to do so) and to clean and green sidewalk areas.

3) Support local businesses and help them coordinate or self-organize to better share resources and foster community

We took a tally of who was interested in working on each issue and may develop "subcommittees" to help move things forward. If you didn't make the meeting but have an interest in one of these items, please email Grace or SJ.

All of these activities could be assisted by looking at 4th Ave with updated information - so much is changing so fast! We are proposing that we hold an in-person meeting in December, with maps and data, to survey needs and make action steps.

Next Steps:

SJ will reach out to Gowanus Canal Conservancy (GCC) as they offered to help with this last spring, but the effort was delayed. We will keep everyone up to date on possible meeting dates.

Grace will share Business Resources from Joanna Tallantire of the 5th Ave BID and will connect some individual businesses who have reached out to us. She will also share a recording of the Zoom meeting.

Remember the Park Slope Civic Council Civic Sweep is this Sunday Nov 13 from 10am-2pm. There will be a table, activities, free coffee and bagels set up on 5th Ave in front of the Old Stone House.

Also the 4th Ave Yarn Bomb - celebrating 4th Ave - is up until the morning of Saturday Nov 19th.

Let us know if you have any questions or comments!

Best, Grace and SJ
